TRANScenDANCE in Madrid

As part of Pride Week 2025, LaJoven will host a special event focused on promoting inclusion and gender identity awareness in educational and cultural spaces. Titled “Gender Identity in Education and Creation: Towards Safe and Inclusive Spaces”, the event will take place on July 1st at LaJoven’s venue in Madrid as part of the TRANScenDANCE project, supported by Erasmus+.

Gender Identity in Education and Creation

Designed for educators and cultural professionals, the evening will offer tools to better accompany trans and non-binary youth through dialogue, reflection, and body-based exploration. It will begin with a welcome and project presentation, emphasizing the importance of personal reflection on gender as a foundation for inclusive practice.

A roundtable discussion will follow, moderated by actress and historian Petra Neira (@lapetrona_), featuring trans and non-binary artists and educators including David Blanco, Charli Erroz, Julie Zhen, Magui Prieto, Víctor Gil, Huga Montes and Odin Maldonado. They will reflect on how gender identity has shaped their careers, the barriers they’ve faced, and what is needed to create truly inclusive creative spaces. A Q&A with the audience will deepen the conversation.

Roundtable discussion

To close the evening, attendees will participate in a short physical workshop—adapted from a previous TRANScenDANCE training in Marseille—exploring embodied practices for inclusive education, followed by an evaluation and interest collection session.

Free and open to the public with prior registration, this event promises to be a thoughtful and inspiring gathering at the intersection of education, creativity, and gender inclusivity.
