Nexus is a cultural association supported by the Italian Cultural Ministry, the Emilia Romagna region and Municipality of Bologna, founded in 2008 by the choreographer, dancer and performer Simona Bertozzi.

Nexus was born as a reference point of the contemporary dance research company and a link between the choreographic experimentation and the Bologna territory.

Beyond the production sustainment of the company, Nexus years ago became a centre dedicated to the sharing of ideas and dance practices, making projects dedicated to the production and the promotion of dance in the international contemporary field. It focuses on:

Audience engagement: Nexus aim is to involve the public enrooted in the territory, creating a deep and durable connection with the local community.

Dance as an inclusion medium: Nexus organises projects in which contemporary dance is being used as a medium to share values, experiences and practices, dealing with the citizenship inclusion for ethnic, cultural and language minorities, sharing anatomic memories and traditions, finding a common movement path. Nexus believes in the universal body concept.

Theoretical and academic research: Nexus organizes events dedicated to the performing arts theoretical research, particularly in the contemporary dance field, conversing with critics and academics.

Nexus promotes and manages the dissemination of dance in its every expression, in particular of contemporary dance. The Association produces contemporary dance shows at professional level, managing national and international tours. Nexus wants to include dance in the wide art field, promoting performing arts shows, sharings, lessons and projects, and dialoguing with music, culture, scientific and academic research.
